I was curious if anyone out there has taken the plunge into becoming the next gigagolf.com or pinemeadowgolf.com. It seems like a lot of fun, maybe a good way to make a little extra money for this expensive golf hobby.
Any comments, information out there, good or bad is appreciated.
Thanks

i buy from giga golf regularly but have no interest in becoming the next one. If you are spamming to generate more interest in them. do yourself a favor and don't. I regularly sing the praises of e-tailers who sell clones on here including gigagolf.com, linksmangolf.com, and diamondtour.com Don't give those sites a bad name by spamming.

Totally not spamming, just trying to get some more information to see if it is possible to start a new online clone store. There isn't a lot of useful info out there to find out how to get, started. how to get materials in China sent here, etc.

HI I've been in marketing for over 15 years and have a deep understanding of the retail industry. Golf clubs are a very low margin item. As a newbie in the industry here's what you might expect: 10% gross profit margin on golf clubs. They are very competitively priced online. You'll need to invest heavily in search engine marketing- time or money you'll need to spend a lot of either. You'll also pay 3-4% or to accept credit cards as a new business. (Forget about the "1.5%" ads. They only apply to check cards, not rewards cards which are the most common.) Frankly, I wouldn't touch it. You're looking at a mature market, low margins, highly competitive. Same with golf balls. Surely there must be something better out there?
Golf Link has the better idea- build a community, and post ads. They are likely to make more money on advertising and affiliate marketing than you'll probably ever make on selling golf clubs this late in the game.

golf electronics could be the way for you but if you wish to check out a thing called the OC TRAILS CARD the lady did the whole thing herself and makes a good living from it.

Maybe doing something like golf gifts is the way to go? The online store I shop at a lot is http://www.iznadgolf.com - they carry things like golf sheets and bathroom sets (!) as well as clothes and clubs. You might open up your buyers market more by selling things that appeal to the gift giver who isn't necessarily a golfer but finds your merchandise appealing, and of course, who knows a golfer to give a gift to.
