Hi all,

I just joined golflink.com and am excited to start tracking my rounds and seeing my stats improve over time.

I just had a few questions and wanted to get some opinions from people who have used other online golf stat tracking websites such as oobgolf.com, stracka, digitaldivot.com, ghin.com or ushandicap.com. I have just completed a thorough search of the web for any objective comparisons of these websites, but I came up with little to nothing.

So here are my questions:

#1 Is there a difference between an official USGA handicap tracker and a non-official website (such as this one). Additionally, are "USGA compliant" and offical USGA handicaps the same? Maybe someone can elaborate and clarify what this means and which website offer which type.

#2 Does anyone have any experience with any other golf tracking websites, whether it be official USGA or not, I'd like to get some feedback on which is the easiest to use, most comprehensive, etc.

Thanks for all your input!

usga compliant probably means it's calculated exactly the same as a USGA handicap however it is sanctioned by the USGA (Translation-The USGA isn't making any money off of it). To play in formal tourneys you will need to have a USGA approved handicap.

Personally, I use postmyscore.com which is a service that is also sold to other websites so some of the sites you mentioned may even be using there product. It allows me to enter single scores, scores with stats, and scores with detailed stats such as Drive in fairway, driving distance, Green in regulation, chips, greenside bunkers and putts and length of first putt. when you miss fairways and GIR you can put how you missed (left, right, short, long). I enjoy being able to track the stats but I must admit i'm sort of a stat geek.

This site also partners with a gps unit called the gps golf guru and its a gps unit that lets you record your stats while you play and it will upload your stats and score into the handicap system automatically by connecting via usb to your pc. I don't own one yet but that will probably be the GPS i go with because I don't like how long it takes me to enter all the stat info but i love tracking it.

Looks like you are right...both use the ISaAC golf profile software and charge between $10 and $30 bucks to use it.

As an additional note, while researching different websites, I came across a PC program that looks pretty interesting as well called 'scorecard' (http://cynicalpeak.com/scorecard). I'm definitely gonna take a look at this one!
