It's been about a week since the US Open playoff, one of the most talked about events in recent golf history. As someone who is already very interested in the game, how do you feel about the recent attention to the game of golf?
This community is made up of people who truly love the game. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I can't vote because I think its a mixed bag. A lot of people see major golf tournaments and then go out and buy themselves a set of clubs only to come to courses and slow down play, think they are Tiger Woods, on and on and on.

I don't think it's going to affect anything. Everyone is more concerned with Tiger being out and he gives that "Wow" factor for the tournaments, so I think at least for this year, it'll stay about the same as last year.

I think it showed people a different side of the game, in a positive light, and that should be good for the game's image, if nothing else.

if I was an outsider, I would have only thought one guy played. tiger, the golf channel wasn't very fair about the other players and how good they are and what there stats were. even Rocco. those guys need to watch some NASCAR to see how they talk about all the players in the field, not just one guy.... cause in the months to come, there going to have to learn how to be better rounded and make it interesting...

mmmmmmmm, theres been about 27 events so far and tiger has only won 4 of them, Phil has 2 and there were 21 other winners. I wouldn't call that a runaway would you....

Right... but in NASCAR everything is happening all at once, in one small area, that can be caught by three or four cameras. Plus they put cameras in the cars and everything else. I don't know about you, but I can drive a car with all sorts of distractions... music, phone, road rage, flipping other people off, and smoking a cigar (all at the same time by the way). If someone farts while I'm golfing... that's it for my shot. I think it's gotten too big, and would be a logistical nightmare to cover every single person that plays a tournament. They have their hands full following the few guys they do.
The only reason as many people watch it anymore is because of Tiger. If he's what's bringing in the money for you... wouldn't you be biased to give him the most coverage?

I couldn't agree more. The golf "reporters" have totally focused on TIGER, now he's gone!! IF they had covered ALL the players and their accomplishments the current dilemma facing golf would not occur. NO other sport has so singularly focused on ONE of it's players. Golf will now pay the price...

Yeah you never would have known Adam Scott was playing with Tiger and Phil. I think the attention will die back down to where it was. They built the hype up with the Tiger/Phil match up. If he had been paired with anyone else the dramatics would have been less.
