experiencing very inconsistent contact with driver. All other clubs including fairway woods seem pretty good. Problem is a banana slice, but sometimes I hit well. Just want to be consistent. Any advise is appreciated.

It might be that your shaft is too soft and your swing is too fast causing it to not square up on the ball when you hit it.

you could be too steep with your driver swing, perhaps focus on coming around the body moreso than chopping down at the ball

Often times this is psychological; big stick, trying to make a big hit, losing positions in the swing, going back too far. Sometimes it helps to choke down an inch on it, slow swing down, maybe even take a shorter swing. Smooth stroke knocks it further than trying to hit hard. Just swing like you do other sticks and don't let the ball get in the way.

That means I should try a stiff flex shaft as opposed to regular flex?

are you young and fit or old and decrepit? if your the former you probably would benefit from a stiffer shaft which will definately help but won't perform miracles either

Take it easy on us old ----'s CPFitness. Old with reduced flex and strength maybe, but decrepit? You'll be there too one day, Lord willing. (just joking; we ARE easy to fun on).
No, slowing and smoothing, even shortening the swing will not alter shaft specs for you, because you will likely be INCREASING club speed in the strike zone anyway.

You are not turning your hips. You get the driver in your hand and you want to swing out of your shoes. Turn your belt buckle to the target while keeping your head behind the ball. Don't swing at it with the arms. Imagine that yuo are letting your hip turn hit the ball instead of your arms and hands. Turn, turn, turn. It's the most important move in golf. Hope this helps.

Right, he mentioned he's hitting regular flex so if he adds clubhead speed he's gonna probably need S flex
