I've been working on my iron play and trying to get some consistency so I can figure out my distance on each club, and now that I can finally hit the ball straight most of the time I'm finding that I'm not seeing a big difference in distance with my short-med irons (9-6I), I hit them all ~150yds. Has anyone had this problem before or have any ideas what would cause such a thing?

incorrect ball placement would cause this. if you have a short iron up in the middle of your stance you will hit the ball with a higher trajectory and less distance. try playing the short irons farther back in your stance. It's going to require you to work harder to square the clubface at impact though but you will get a nice boring trajectory and good backspin on the ball

Thanks for the tip, I'll admit I haven't paid attention to my ball position when I switch clubs so this could very well be my problem.

Are you swinging the 6 and 7 easy or choking up and swinging the 8 and 9 hard it can often be that simple. Hit the 6 then the 9 and make the same swing if it still happens and you are not sculling your short irons demo another set clubs marked pro trajectory often depend on swing speed to get the ball up and the lofts can be funny.

If you are cupping your left wrist prior to impact, not hitting with a flat wrist you can add loft to the mid irons, turning a 7 iron into a wedge.
