I am a mid to upper 80's golfer who suddenly can not hit my driver, it started a couple of weeks ago...I just can't seem to get the ball up in the air. I am hitting line drives about 100 yards that get about two feet off the ground...just last week I topped my drive 10 yards off the tee. I have never done that before. When I go to the range I am hitting it great. I am totally lost and have lost all confidence on the tee. My driver has always been a strong point of my game...and now I am almost embarrassed to pull it out. My stance, swing all feels the same...this is killing my scores. All advice is welcome. Thanx !!

grip it and rip it one time..see how that works out for you.

Most of the time when me or my playing partner are struggling off the tee its because we forget that all we're actually doing is trying to hit a golf ball a.k.a. we're thinking too much.

We'll be focusing on where we want the ball to go, to do this in our backswing, make sure this body part does that, make sure the club goes here, don't hit over there, whats the wind doing, am I lined up properly, ......meanwhile the tension keeps building.

Don't think, just do.

every range i've been too has tee's that sit way high in fact usually too high. I'm guessing that your teeing the ball too low. Are you hitting your irons well? perhaps you are taking more of an iron swing which is a descending blow as opposed to a driver swing.

no if he was making an iron swing and hitting down on the ball he would be sky mailing it meaning it goes high as hell. You sound like you are topping it that is what causes that i would try moving the ball back in your stance just a little bit and see how that works and maybe try teeing the ball a little diffrenatly see how that works for you.

not necessarily, i mean if he is teeing it low and just ever so slightly hiting down at it what he describes could be happening. he could definately be topping it too, probably some sort of problem with his spine angle

1 other thing, if you have a video camera or even someone with a still camera, take some pics/video at the range when your hitting it well. note the ball placement and things of that nature and then translate it over to the course
