Here I display my neophyte status, but can anyone list out the different types of matches we might encounter? I know about stroke and match play and shotgun starts, but I hear about 2-man scramble, 4-ball, best-ball, etc. And what does "skins" mean? I'm sure there's many more I have yet to hear. So, thanks in advance for all responses.

Pastor Mark, here's a great website that has every type of golf game imaginable:

Check out "Defender." It's a game I like because it can be played with only three players -- sometimes it's tough getting the foursome together every weekend.

Skins is kind of like match play but the holes carry over. So, if no one wins like 3 in a row and someone wins the 4th, that player gets 4 skins. Player with the most skins at the end wins.

The link will work if you remove the unneeded space before the "htm" at the end when you cut and paste. Thanks for the info!
