I've just started golfing. For the most part i'm very consistent in my shots. The only problem is my ball is always to the right. i would say at 150-200yds its 20-30yds to the right. Not a slice, it's very straight and solid straight bounces as well. I've been told because i've played a ton of baseball that it's by inside out swing pattern. Please help.

Just curious - are you using a one or two-plane swing? A one-plane swing is similar to a baseball swing except that you are bent forward more based on the club length and the swing plane is flatter. I have recently switched to the lower maintenance one-plane swing and have gotten great results - am getting more consistent, solid contact and have eliminated slicing with the wood/driver. You may want to check out Mike LaBauve's videos on this site or get Jim Hardy's book on swing plane. I realize that this doesn't answer your question but as a new golfer you may want to consider a one-plane if you are not using it already. It's a much simpler swing. Good Luck.

with what you have given us, why not try playing a low spin ball... it makes a huge difference sometimes, its not the fix for your swing and cause we can't see it. but its a start, and even might surprise you...
SPIN ratios for different types of balls, see the low spin ones on the bottom....

Low Spin Golf Balls The lower spinning golf balls will help to eliminate the side spin on your shots, which in turn eliminates the chances of that big slice or hook. The ball will end up flying straighter through the air at the target. The one thing to mention about these types of balls is that they may not travel as far through in the air but they make up for it when they hit the ground. Due to the minimal amount of spin produced the balls will roll further when they hit the ground and not spin back. It’s because of these two characteristics that these types of balls are geared toward higher handicappers. They help them hit their shots straighter and they also run out on the fairways.

Your friends are probably right. It's an inside-out push type of swing. If you hit it straight, rather than changing your swing or your ball, just open up your stance so that it feels like you're aimed to the left of your target. Lots of tour guys have really open stances (e.g. Justin Rose). After changing your stance, you just have to practice to know how you have to stand to hit the ball directly at your target. Lots of guys try for years to get a consistent, straight ball flight. If yours goes straight don't change your swing, just change your preconceived notions on how to line up to the ball.

blue crush, he specifically says the ball isn't slicing, it's a straight shot just blocked off to the right.
I am also a baseball player and have tinkered around with a 1 plane swing and have figured out how to get back to a 2 plane swing which gives me the distance I want. What I find out now is that when i don't drive it straight, it's usually a problem with my transition from the backswing to the foreswing. When I hit a few drives well I get over confident and I start the foreswing early. My hands get ahead of my hips and I snap the ball off to the left. Then when I go to fix it I stay too relaxed and my hips get ahead of my hands and I block it off to the right. The latter could be what you are experiencing in some form if your ball flight is straight.

not tryin to pick on you blue but since when is a pro v a "low spin ball"
Almost any ball struck correctly off the driver will spin pretty low but as you can see from the numbers, the prov spins pretty high off the driver compared to the others. If you have a serious slice, you don't want to be spending 45 bucks a dozen on pro v's the bottom line is for anyone with a serious slice, no ball is going to help that out enough.

Now hitting most fairways after a lo-oo-oo-ng time pushing shots to the right (that is, when I'm able to hit off the tee at all -- but let's not talk about my meltdown yesterday...ugh), I have found the most effective fix to be part of my set-up. I'm making sure to square my hips and shoulders to my target. Prior to this, I was trying to close my stance by moving my left foot forward an inch to compensate, but I was leaving my hips and shoulders wide open coming through impact. Bang -- push! So maybe try to align the shoulders by consciously putting the left shoulder forward until it begins to feel "wierd" when setting up. I'll bet when you come through impact, the shoulders will square and your shot will go straighter.
Big follow-through to a full finish helped me, too. Let us know what eventually works for you.

sorry, I guess I missed that one, my bad.... public schools comprehension, error....
CP, no worries the ball spin thing was a chart for asst balls proV1, ect if you see, it shows the high spin ratios of some of them vs the lower spin balls at the bottom of the list... I tried to make it as clear asI could, I'll change the header, sorry...

You are not releasing the club fully.
