Hello all..I am totally new to all this and I wanted to check it out. I am new to the golf world but ever since my husband started teaching me the game I love it. The only problem I am having is I have a bad right hook to my swing...If anyone has any suggestions...[/font]

Welcome to Golf Link Crazie, its always great to have the feminine touch to our gang. I'm a little confused about your problem, a hook normally goes to the left, a slice, the opposite of the hook goes to the right. So we'll assume its a slice. There are a number of really good videos on the board describing cures for the slice. Sometimes its easier and more insightful to see the cure then have someone try to explain it. Use the search feature on the main sign on page and type in "slice", it will bring back several good videos on the subject. Hope this helps. Also check out our COMMUNITY postings, if you see something interesting, by all means jump in a say hello. Looking forward to having you with us....

I retired on June 30, 2007. Prior to now I played about 18 holes every other year at golf outings. I am now giving it everything I have to see if I can get "decent" so that I can go out an play with "decent" golfers. It's been a struggle last two months. I'm taking lessons and hitting balls every day. It's been fun though.

Unfortunately this is one game where Practice, Practice, Practice is the ONLY way to become proficient at this game STEVE. This is my first full year at it, try to play at least 2 to 3 times a week, and get out to the practice facility at least once. Can't say I'm improving in leaps and bounds but the scores are SLOWLY coming down. Golf has this way of creeping into your bones, one day its super, then next its a wreck, but it keeps us coming back. All I can say is keep up the hard work, and you to will become a self absorbed masochist.

Hello Crazie and Biggjon,
Welcome to golf link. I'm also from Wisconsin-Milwaukee area. I'll be playing Biggjon's home course of Silver Spring a few times in the next week or two due to an outing I have there for work.
To Crazie, I found out that you lose allot less golf balls when you work out swing flaws on the driving range rather than the golf course. Don't let it become a task. It's even tougher for us northerners because we're forced south or indoors during the winter months. Keep working at it. I believe 65nlovenit's last post says it all.
One thing he doesn't mention is that he's 65 and still playing. That's the one great thing about golf. When your 43 like me, you still have another 30 years of golfing to look forward to.
