hingeThanks to encouragement I've received from fellow golfer on the forums I've decided to take the leap and play my first round of golf. My swing is still very raw. I have been practicing with various clubs for around 3 months now and have taken 5 lessons from GolfTec which has only given me the fundamentals, I still struggle with getting consistency in my swing. The lack of consistency is what's kept me off the course, fearing that I'll get out there and not be able to hit the ball, making for a frustrating and embarrassing experience. I realize now that I'll never be consistant enough to feel like I'm ready, so I just need to get out there and have fun. Thanks for all the encouraging words from everyone!
Up to now I have mostly practiced with my wedges (sand and pitching) so I'm pretty consistant with them, but very inconsistant with my other clubs. I have decided to dedicate each practice session to getting better with a particular club. This morning I practiced with my 9 iron and I'm starting to see some improvement with it. I'm mostly focusing on just taking to club back to a quarter swing as taking a full swing usually results in a low pushed shot. I think my main problem is I am either releasing the club too late, or not enough. My grip might also be suspect as I think I have too strong of a right hand grip, but when I try to weaken it it feels really unnatural to me.
It's really hard to tell what my problems are without video to look at, so I plan to have my wife take a video of my swing from different angles so I can post on the forums and have some of you guys see what flaws have crept into my swing that I'm not seeing. Look for that sometime next week.
This is my first blog, so sorry if it's all over the place. I'll try to keep an daily record of my progress.

Short CourseToday was pretty exciting. I started off all alone and felt a bit rushed because other people were 1 hole behind me and closing in. I felt overall satisfied with my results after 9 holes and was ready to call it a day. As I was leaving, an older golfer with an accent that at first left me not understanding him to well, asked if I wanted to go around again with him because he had been waiting for a couple people in front of him to finish so he was stuck for a few minutes waiting at hole 1. Im sure he didnt want to go around alone again either so we went together. On just the 4 hole, I tried to do everything right with my swing to land on the green. I did just that and more. Not only did I land on the green but I was a mere 2 feet from the hole. Pure luck of course as far as how close I got. I didnt birdie it because I putted it way to hard. But I par'd the hole. I didnt par anymore holes today but just getting that one amazing shot and then getting that par made my whole day worth it. I left extremely happy and thankfull to have a second go around with a partner and not all by myself. I think all in all it was a really great experience. I have golf class again next Thursday and Im sure it will start improving my game with each week that passes. Untill next time...

adviceI slice on my driver, though I've straightened out all my other clubs. I don't have much power, and when I try to get power, I slice. I don't want to just screw with my hands to correct the slice, I'd prefer to get the rest of my swing correct instead of covering up those mistakes. Any advice would be appreciated.
