IT FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK AT HOME!

It is more than one hundred since golf was last played in the Olympics and Canada's George Lyon took the gold as only men competed. The women golf was in the 1900 Games in Paris and Margaret Abbott of the USA took the gold medal.

According to Finchem, in 2016 golf Olympic there are 60 men and 60 women from about 30 countries will appear in a 72-hole stroke-play tournament.

"I think it's going to start right away," PGA tour Commissioner Tim Finchem said about golf return to the Olympics at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. "When you consider that over 100 countries will now invest in the sport to grow the game, it will catapult the level of growth, particularly in Asia, Eastern Europe and South America. Golf in the Olympics is going to strengthen the image and texture of the game. "It is going to be more recognized as a truly athletic endeavor."

If golf stays in the Olympics — it was reinstated for 2016 and 2020 — John Strawn, president of the course design firm Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest and Associates, give his expectation of the game's growth to continue for years.

"The real impact here is that governments in China and India will now spend significant funds on the development of golfers just as they spend on the development of gymnasts and field hockey players," he said. "In China, the creations of golf practice facilities alone — not to mention golf courses — will run into the billions of dollars."

Golf growth will affect the entire golf industry. "Anything that grows the game, gets more people playing the game and more people watching the game, impacts the interests of sponsors," Finchem said. "It impacts the strength of the manufacturing companies. It impacts the strength of destination golf resorts." The tour coordinated efforts with leading golf organizations around the world to prepare for the 2016 Games.

Then Aug. 5-21 2016 Games will be a busy summer for golf for the eight huge events in that time— four FedExCup playoff events, a World Golf Championship event, the PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup and the Olympics.

"We know there's going to be some scheduling challenges, and we knew that going in and we have all just agreed to fix it," Finchem said. "We'll start the process for 2016 right away. And in the case of the PGA Tour, we will be negotiating in about a year and a half our television agreements which will go through 2016 and maybe beyond. So we have to address that.

If you've gone to the driving range and gotten the satisfaction of hitting the ball straight and true a few times, it's now time to learn the game of golf.

For the golf starters, it can seem ridiculous to need 14 different clubs just to smack a ball enough times to get it to the end of the course. However, as you play the game more and more you will begin to see that all of the different types of golf clubs will almost certainly come in handy quite often. Here I will outline some of the most important key things that you need to understand about golf clubs. After you understand these, you can start to perfect you own ability to choose the best club to use at any point in the game. This, along with a powerful and accurate swing, is how you can begin to win more and more games.

The first type of golf club is a wood.To the contrary of what the name suggests, the heads are not made out of wood. Usually woods are made out of hollow metal, usually steel or titanium. They are designed to allow for the greatest distance with each stroke. Out of the 14 clubs in a standard set, the woods make up less than half. They are usually used on the long and straight portions of the golf course, since they allow for the greatest distance with semi-decent accuracy. The accuracy is certainly not the strong point of the woods, and usually it takes plenty of practice to be able to keep the ball on a straight course. Woods are also the longest clubs in the set.

Iron come next, and they are used most frequently throughout the game. They are very versatile compared to the other two types of clubs, and therefore make up a larger amount of the clubs in your bag. They can still achieve fairly large distances, though not quite as far as the woods can. Depending on which particular iron you use, you can have a much higher level of accuracy and get the ball a lot closer to where you want it to be. There are many different kinds of irons that have very specific uses, such as those that are meant to get you out of the sand traps or pop the ball up over an obstacle.

The final type of golf club is the putter, and a standard golf bag usually only contains one of these. These are used on the putting green at the end of the course, or in other parts of the course that require delicate accuracy. They are meant to be the clubs with the shortest distance and the highest accuracy, usually only going a few yards to the target. Balls hit with putters are not meant to fly up in the air. Rather, they are just pushed lightly along the ground where they will roll gently to the target. Putting is arguably the most important part of the game, so it is a good idea to get a nice putter and practice a bunch with it.

These 3 types of clubs are the basis for the game of golf. When you begin to start recognizing when you should use a wood or an iron, that is when you are beginning to get a hang for the game. Until then, you will just have to practice all you can with the golf clubs that you have.

Ive got the X-22's from www.golfwholesaleonline.com and I can tell you that they are a FANTASTIC set of irons! I think they are quite good for senior golfers.

They are what are known as a game improvement iron and what this means is that they help your game dramatically if you dont have enough time to practice to develop the perfect swing.

Basically they have a bigger center of gravity, with more peripheral weighting to help keep the clubface square at impact making your shots fly longer and straighter.

since Ive had these clubs ive cut 8 strokes off my handicap from 22 to 14. And its still dropping. Even shots that would have normally shot off to the right seem to come off straight and with only a tiny sacrifice in distance!

The only thing that I would say that is a little bit negative about the clubs is that I dont like how the club looks at address. Basically for my own personal taste they are a little bit chunky...but this is to be expected because they are a game improvement iron!
