I very rarely have a tee time.  Most of my golfing is spontaneous and I usually just go on a whim.  So I got the itch around 4:00 at work, so I rushed home after work let the dog out and was in the course parking lot by 5:30. To my surprise there were only 4 cars in the parking lot....(1 has to be the pros, 1 for the kid working the register and maybe 1 for the cart kid).  Oh yeah!!!!...2 hours left of daylight and the course is mine.  I usually walk and carrry, but at this course the 9th hole leaves you out in the middle of nowhere and with the sun slowly slipping in I decided to get a cart (buggy - for my friends across the pond).  Cart--Noone on the course... i should have no problem finishing 9 holes

Course Stats     Miry Run Country Club - 6850 yards Par 72

So I tee off from the tips around 5:40, I tell myself no practice swings.... Just get moving.  Next thing I know I am on the 10th tee... and it is 6:15.... I just played 9 holes in a little over a half-hour.

So I get to the 12th hole and ran into the owners of that 4th car....They graciously let me play thru....  16 th tee:  Time check 6:50...  I quickly finish out bogey-bogey par.... And I just played 18 holes in  1 hour and 25 minutes.  I was flying!!!!! I literally walked up to my ball on every shot ....hit it.....got my line and jumped in the cart while it was still in the air.

Score: 41-41 82

Fairways 2/14

Gir 8/18

Putts 33

6 pars... 8 bogs.... 2 birds... 2 doubles

Nothing worse then waking up early on a sunday without a tee time.  My puppy got me up at 5:45am ....and couldn't get my a$$ back to bed.... I decided to take a ride to a little place called Princeton Country Club...5800 yard Par 70.   No tee time rule, First come first serve.  I showed up at 6:45 with a crowd of people hovering around the first tee....UGH.... Luckily around 7:30 the starter sent me and 3 others to tee off on # 10 with no one in front of us. Giddy up!!! Going out left me feeling like I should have tried a little harder to fall back asleep....  Managed to hit 5 of 7 fairways, but only hit 1 green in regulation.  And my scrambling was not going well.  Went out in 46... 1 par...5 bogs...and 3 doubles....Almost got in the car and headed for the bed....Fiance would have never even known i was gone =).... Needless to say I finished. Coming in was much better....  Managed to fight back and shot a 39...Hitting 5 gir... 1 birdie...4 pars....3 bogs.. and a stupid double on a skulled chip and 3 putt.   All in all it was an ok day....

I play in one tournament a year.  It is called the metropolitan.  3 round stroke play, with the first round being a qualifying round.  Top 40 and ties make it.  Requirements: 10 handicap or less.   Lets just say I didn't see the weekend.  I made the mistake of playing the front 9 at the course the day before the tournament.  I decided to do this because the front nine is very tough and I wanted to get some idea of club selection.  Carded a 2-over on the front with 3 birdies.  The morning of the tournament they double cut and double rolled the greens.  OUCH!!!!  The first three holes I didn't factor in adrenaline and over shot my approach shots by 15 yards.  Once I chipped up  I was blowing my putts past the hole not leaving  an easy second putt.  Ended up going out in 45 =( in 43.  A crowd pleasing 88.  78 was the cut.   Just missed it =).  My only promising hole of the day was number 9... 525 yard par 5.  300yd drive in the left rough...followed by a 5 iron  up the throat to 6 feet....  Lipped out the eagle putt and carded my only birdie of the day.
after all said and done I had a great time on the course, plus a day off from work:
STATS
fairways hit:  2
GIR:  2
Putts:  36
score:  88
always next year!!!!
