I've only been golfing for about three months now and while my average is around 105-108 I still hadn't been able to break that sub 100 stroke round until last Thursday. I finally got it with a 97 round which was also my first round completed with one ball. I had no penalties throughout the whole round. I had no birdies although I had 3 chances (another record for me) and ended up with 5 pars (also a record). Anyway it feels great to hit a milestone or two and now I just need to hunt down a score of 90.
Well it's been two weeks since I shot my 97 and I've only been able to get out and play one round since. I shot a 107 with about 5 penalties, and no fewer than 4 putts that I left anywhere from two to eight inches short. So much for consistent improvement. Oh well. It was on a course I've never played before so that's gotta figure in a little. I'd normally have been out at least one or two more times but the weather here is just too damn hot. To give you an idea, the temperature has been hovering between my last two golf scores, 97 & 107 for the last two weeks. I'm looking forward to the Fall. Unfortunately I live in an area that gets frequent high winds in the Fall so my scores could be heading up while the temperature goes down. I don't care, I just want to get out and play.
