Design
The typical cart bag is a variation on the original touring professional's "staff bag" seen carried by player's caddies at tournaments. These bags were large, heavy, visible and ultra-protective of the players' clubs and equipment. The cart bag has a similar look with a few particular design features, making it a perfect fit for a riding cart. Since this bag is designed to stand up on the platform behind a riding cart, all of Callaway's cart bags are designed with a flat bottom so they can stand upright on their own.
Organization
The dividers in the mouth of the bag are important in a cart bag in that they allow you to easily and quickly find the club you are looking for, and they also keep the clubheads separate enough to keep them protected while riding over hills and bumps on the course. Several of Callaway's bags, including the Big Bertha Diablo, Tour Authentic, Tour and Stadium bags, feature a raked or stadium-style angle from front to back--the reverse of many carry bags--allowing you to keep your woods in the taller section and your irons in the shorter sections for ease of organization and visibility.
Storage
Cart bags are designed to have the belly of the bag anchored against the body of the riding cart. For this reason, Callaway's cart bags have strategically placed pockets on the back side of the bag that allow you access to all your gear without taking the bag off the cart. The Stadium Cart Bag emphasizes this feature more than any other model.
Sizes and Features
Callaway Golf's cart bags range in diameter from 8 to 10.5 inches. Generally speaking, the larger the diameter of the mouth of the bag, the larger the bag and the more storage space it has. The three women's models--the Sivan, Brocade and Women's Limited Edition--feature a traditional three-section organization offering the most simplicity and flexibility in organizing your clubs. The other models range from four to 14 divider sections, enabling each club to have its own specific place in your bag.
Colors
Virtually all of Callaway's golf bags come in a variety of color combinations, usually a basic color with a choice of accent colors. The women's Limited Edition and Brocade bags come in one mainly black and black-and-white version, respectively, while the Sivan bag is available in both white with green and all-black versions.
Prices
The price range on cart bags is wide but bags are generally a bit more expensive than the average stand or carry bag. Most of the basic bags, including the Sivan, have a suggested price of about $140 in 2009, while the Brocade and Limited Edition bags are in the $200 range. The Big Bertha Diablo and Tour bags are basically the top-of-the-line bag at about $300.
