Facts
Top-Flite claims its ball is super long, super soft and super straight. With its solid core and soft cover, the XL 5000 features a rubber core optimized for long distance, a now-classic ionomer cover that provides low spin off the driver but maximum spin off irons. Surface area is maximized through unique dimple technology extending this ball's maximum distance.
History
Top-Flite has one of the longest histories in golf club and equipment manufacturing. Begun as a part of A.G. Spalding in 1895, Top-Flite expanded and produced clubs and golf balls until the 1980s until it was taken over by Callaway Golf in the 1990s. More than 110 years old, Top-Flite has certainly proven its viability in the industry.
Technical Specifications
The Top-Flite Super Long ball has a rubber core surrounded by a thin ionomer cover with what Top-Flite describes as "distance dimple technology." This highly researched combination provides long distance off the driver, high spin of the short irons and soft feel around the greens. It also is durable, making it a good choice for the mid-handicap amateur.
Benefits
The Super Long ball has reduced spin off the driver so you can hit long shots straight. It also has heightened spin off short irons so you can know your shots will stop where they land. The soft feel on chip and pitch shots help you land the ball exactly where you want to.
Price
One of the most economical golf balls on the market, the Top-Flite XL 5000 retails for about $13 for a 15 pack as of 2009. Compared with the Titleist Pro V1, this is a savings of almost $40 per dozen.
