Unique Feature
What makes the PinPro different from other rangefinders on the market is its use of a laser to zero in on the intended target on the course. This gives you the opportunity to better visualize your shot before you strike the ball, which can lead to greater accuracy. Non-laser units will merely indicate your location and distance to the hole on a map screen.
Operation
The PinPro operates much like a video camera. You start by raising the unit to eye-level so that you can look through the viewfinder to sight your shot. You will then lock onto your target by pulling the "trigger" on the pistol grip, which produces a red laser dot. You can then adjust the dot by moving the camera until you locate the perfect spot.
Distance
When you hone in on your target, a digital readout will indicate how far you are from the hole. The PinPro is effective up to distances of 400 yards on non-reflective targets, or 330 yards when locking in on the reflector at the top of a flag. You also have the option of having the distance transmitted in meters if you prefer.
Other Specifications
You must be at least seven yards away from your target for the PinPro to operate effectively. The unit measures 6.2-by-3.2-by-1.2 inches and weighs 6.5 ounces. All operations are performed by pressing a single button. It runs on one 9-volt alkaline battery and is also water-resistant.
Price
The PinPro retails for $249 as of 2009. There are no additional charges for things like software, and there are no associated membership fees.
