Head Construction
The Callaway Fusion Wide Sole 60-degree lob wedge features a two-piece body made of 6-4 titanium, which is slightly lighter than stainless steel. The wedge, commonly sold as an individual club, is progressively offset, with its shaft fit with an advanced version of Callaway's Bore-Through technology. The shaft is plugged at the tip for added comfort and reduced vibration.
Modified Cavity Back
The most notable feature of the Fusion Wide Sole lob wedge is its SenSert insert, Callaway's hermoplastic urethane material that fills the cavity, also designed to reduce impact vibration. The insert completes the two-piece head construction and also aids in a low and balanced center of gravity.
Sole Features
Another notable feature of the Fusion Wide Sole lob wedge is its unique weighting system. The wide sole is a made from a two-piece design, featuring a Tunite weight which allows the low center of gravity to quickly launch the ball forward. The sole also helps minimize drag and is designed to move through impact, helping the developing player minimize "fat" shots.
Senior Flex Shaft
A game-improvement shaft, the senior flex Fusion Wide Sole graphite helps the club head pinch the ball and get it up from a variety of lies. The shaft is engineered for players with swing speeds of 65 to 80 mph, helping them swing through the ball without having to alter their swing mechanics and place undue strain on the back and shoulders. The Fusion Wide Sole shaft boasts a slightly low kick-point.
Price and Availability
Callaway dealers are parting with individual Fusion Wide Sole lob wedges with senior flex graphite shafts for prices in the $65 to $90 range (some demand more, depending on supply). Although not considered a premium specialty wedge, the clubs are considerably popular, especially among seniors wanting to complete their sets.
