Technology
The Mizuno MP-600 driver incorporates adjustable weight technology introduced by TaylorMade several years ago. Rather than removable weights, however, this 460 cc driver has two movable 8 g weights mounted in a track along the sole and back of the driver that can be moved and clamped down with an included wrench. This allows each player to customize the ball flight as needed.
Options
The club comes in 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5 degree lofts and shaft flexes of stiff, regular, lite and ladies with the Exsar DS3 Driver shaft. A wider variety of alternate shafts are available on a customized basis.
Benefits
Mizuno says the club is beneficial for quick ball flight tuning and moving up to 18 g of weight to different areas on the sole and back of the golf club. This enables a low, driving ball flight, or a higher-spin, higher-launch angle. Use the included wrench to loosen each weight and slide it to a different location along the groove running in a curve around the back of the club.
Choices
As with all clubs with adjustments built in, the Mizuno MP-600 may offer too many options for the average player. It is probably best for the mid- to high-handicapper to set up this club in a single way to anchor that variable and use the club as she would any club in the bag.
Warning
USGA rules dictate that you may not change the characteristics of any club during a round.
