Personal information
Dodt was born on January 26,1986, in Australia. His home course is the Gatton Golf Club in Queensland, Australia. According to his personal biography on the Golf Australia website, Dodt's strengths as a golfer are his driving and putting. Outside of golf, he enjoys listening to music, going shopping, and working out at the gym.
Former member of Golf Australia
Dodt was a member of the Golf Australia national team from 2003 to 2007. The amateur players on that squad, which usually includes about 18 golfers a year, are considered some of the best in Australia. During the years Dodt was on the team, he helped it win such events as the Four Nations Cup, Trans Tasman Cup and the Asia-Pacific Teams Championship. He had success in individual events as well, capping his amateur career with medalist honors at the 2007 Australian Amateur, which is the Australian national amateur championship.
A stellar 2007
Dodt nearly was victorious in both the Australian and the New Zealand Amateur Stroke Play Championships in 2007. A victory at both events would have been a rare feat. He won the Australian Stroke Play Championship by defeating Scott Arnold in a playoff. Later in the year, he fired a 68 in the final round of the New Zealand Amateur Stroke Play Championship, but lost by a single shot to James Gill.
Qualifying school
After his amateur career ended, Dodt traveled to Auburn, Alabama, to compete in the 2007 qualifying school for the U.S. pro tour. In 2008, he competed in two events on the Nationwide Tour, considered the second-tier tour in the United States. However, he failed to make the cut in either event, and those were the only two events he played in in the United States. His totals in those events were 2-over par and 8-over par.
European Tour
By 2009, Dodt had made his way from the United States to the European Tour where he competed in five events: the Sportsbet Australian Masters (tied for 88th place); the Maybank Malaysian Open (tied for 75th); the Johnnie Walker Classic (tied for 21st); the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open (tied for 46th); and the Ballantine's Championship (tied for 27th). His performance at the Johnnie Walker Classic, which he finished at 11-under par, included a round of 66.
