Personal Information
Kamii was born Oct. 28, 1982, in Osaka, Japan. He stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 172 pounds. His size and strength make him one of the longest hitters on the Japan Golf Tour, where he averages almost 290 yards per drive.
College Career
When he was attending college at Nagoya Commerce University, where he graduated from in 2003 with a degree in business management, Kamii played in the Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship. The USA team won the event. In addition to a second-place finish at that tournament, Kamii finished the 2003 season with a second-place finish at the Japan Student Golf Championship. He also was the victor at the Chubu Student Golf Championship.
Japan Golf Tour
After turning professional, Kamii played in three Japan Golf Tour events in 2005; his best finish was a tie for 83rd place. He played more events the following year and tallied a 12th-place tie. His best finish in 2007 was in a tie for 22nd place. In 2008, he carded three top-10 finishes on the tour. He had two top-10 finishes in 2009.
High Finish
Kamii scored his highest finish as a professional golfer in 2008, when he finished in a three-way tie for second place at a Challenge Tournament of the Japan Golf Tour, the Arita Tokyu JGTO Challenge I. The event is part of the Japan Golf Tour's developmental tour. Kamii finished in a tie at 5-under with Yuta Ikeda and Tomokazu Yoshinaga. During the tournament, he shot a 71 the first day and a 68 the second day.
Personal Bests
Kamii has twice achieved his lowest score for a round, which is a 67. He did so during The Crowns in 2009 and the JCB Classic Sendia in 2006. The most birdies he has carded during a single round is eight, which he accomplished at the Token Homemate Cup. He finished that tournament in a tie for eighth.
