Hoshino was born September 19, 1977, in Sendai, Japan. He stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.
Japan Golf Tour Victories
Hoshino has been victorious three times since he first played a Japan Golf Tour event in 2000. His first win was in 2003, at The Crowns. He followed that with a victory in 2006 at the Coca-Cola Tokai Classic, then in 2008 at the UBS Japan Golf Tour Championship Shishido Hills.
PGA Tour Events
In addition to the 2004 British Open Championship, where he shot an eight-over par and missed the cut, Hoshino also played in the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational in 2008. At that event, he shot three over par and finished the event tied for the 48th position.
Official World Golf Ranking
As of the week of August 9, 2009, Hoshino was ranked 296 on the Official World Golf Ranking. A tie for 13th place at the Sun Chlorella Classic pushed him into that position.
Personal Bests
Hoshino used a personal-best score of 64 to help him achieve victory in The Crowns tournament in 2003. He had shot a 64 one time prior to 2003 and has shot that score one time since then. The most birdies Hoshino has shot in a single round is nine. He has accomplished that three times.
Money List
Hoshino has been a relatively consistent performer on the Japan Golf Tour, having been outside the top 100 on the money list only once, in 2000. Between 2001 and 2009, he was in the top 25 on the money list on five occasions. The other years he ranked 41, 46, 52 and 74.
