Early Years
Born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, in England in 1985, Horsey learned golf in Northwest England, close to Scotland, the birthplace of the sport. He grew up in the game playing in conditions such as the ones that courses in the British Isles are known for, honing his game in heavy winds on tough courses.
Amateur Success
After playing golf through his early teen years, Horsey finished second in the 2004 English Amateur Championship at the age of 19. The next year, he won his only major amateur tournament at the Greek Amateur Championship before turning professional in 2007. He also played as an amateur for Great Britain and Ireland in the 2007 Walker Cup team event in England.
Turning Pro
Horsey began his professional career in 2007 after playing in the Challenge Tour's Oceanico Developments Pro-Am Challenge as an amateur. He stayed on that your, Europe's second-tier professional men's tour, but failed to earn his European Tour card by the end of the 2007 season. He stayed on the Challenge Tour for the 2008 season and exceeded even his own expectations in his first full year as a pro.
Challenge Tour
Horsey impressed as a rookie on the Challenge Tour, winning two events, including the Telnet Trophy and the AGF-Allianz EurOpen de Lyon. He also finished in the top 10 seven other times and finished tied for fifth in an invite to a European Tour event. He found himself on the top of the rankings for the Challenge Tour by the end of the season, earning himself a coveted spot on the European Tour for 2009.
Career Accomplishments
In addition to his two professional wins as of 2009, Horsey has won over $400,000 on the European Tour and has earned himself a ranking as high as 63rd. He has maintained a scoring average of just under 72 throughout his professional career and has finished runner-up once on the European Tour, finishing second in the 2009 Maybank Malaysian Open.
