Matsumura has improved his ranking on the money list of the Japan Golf Tour since he played his first event in 2007. He ranked 85th in 2007; 27th in 2008; and 37th in 2009.
Professional Performance
Matsumura hasn't won an event on the Japan Golf Tour, but he has had a number of strong finishes since the 2007 season, including 14 top-25 finishes. His best finish was a tie for third place at the Gate Way to the Open Mizuno Open Yomiuri Classic in 2008. He took fourth place that same year in the Mitsui Sumitomo VISA Taiheiyo Masters.
Challenge Tour Victories
The Japan Challenge Tour is the second-tier golf tour in Japan. Matsumura has won twice on that tour, both times in 2007. He shot 14 under par to claim the Par 72 Challenge Cup. Then, two weeks later, he fired another 14 under to win the PRGR Cup Final.
British Open Championship
Matsumara competed in the 2008 British Open Championship, but he failed to make the cut after shooting an 82 in the first round and a 76 in the second round to finish at a disappointing 18-over par.
Personal Bests
During the ANA Open in 2007, Matsumura fired an opening-round 63, which ranks as his best 18-hole score. During that round, he carded eight birdies, the most he's carded during one round.
