Tomida was born September 15, 1977 in Mie, Japan. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 187 pounds. Tomida is one of the longest drivers on the Japan Golf Tour in 2009, having been ranked in the top 10 in driving distance most years since 2003.
Japan Golf Tour Victory
Tomida's lone win on the Japan Golf Tour came in April of 2009, when he carded a 15-under par 198 to best the field at the Tsuruya Open in Hyogo, Japan. He shot a 64 in the third round, which was his best showing during the tournament, to propel him to victory. That score was the lowest of the third day of competition. Multiple other golfers shot 64 during the tournament, but there were no scores lower than that.
Official World Golf Ranking
Back-to-back top 20 finishes in the Japan Golf Tour's Sun Chlorella Classic and the Nagashima Shigeo Invitations Sega Sammy Cup pushed Tomida's position on the Official World Golf Ranking to 232 as of August 9, 2009. In addition, he bolstered his ranking by missing just one cut in nine tournaments in 2009.
Money List
Tomida, for the most part, has steadily climbed the money list during his tenure on the Japan Golf Tour. He ranked 89th in 2004; 75th in 2005; 34th in 2006 and 2007; 39th in 2008; and 15th in 2009.
Personal Bests
Tomida twice has carded an 18-hole score of 64, including when he won the 2009 Tsuyura Open. During that tournament, he also tied his career high for birdies in a single round, with eight. He had accomplished that feat during two tournaments in 2005 and 2008.
