History
The Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association first began offering the Myrtle Beach Golf Passport to North Carolina and South Carolina residents in 1993. More than 9,300 people held passports--including many who own vacation homes in the Myrtle Beach area--as of 2009.
Details
The passport allows members to play numerous rounds at many of the courses in the area between Georgetown, South Carolina, and Southport, North Carolina, for discounted prices. At many of the courses, tee times can be had year-round. One of the most attractive features of owning the passport is the ability to invite three others who can play at the same discounted rate.
Requirements
There was a $39 annual fee to obtain a Myrtle Beach Golf Passport, as of 2009. The passports are not transferable. Multiple rounds can be played in one day as long as there is space available at the course. The passports can be used all year.
Geography
There are nearly 100 golf courses in the Grand Strand at which the passport can be used, as of 2009. The Grand Strand is approximately 60 miles of beach land that extends from North Carolina to South Carolina.
Other Discounts
In addition to paying discounted fees to golf, there are various other discounts that come with the Myrtle Beach Golf Passport. For example, a holder of this passport gets restaurant and golf equipment discounts at local businesses.
