About Tomohiro Kondo

Kondo was born June 17, 1977, in Aichi, Japan. He stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 132 pounds. While small in stature, Kondo hits drives that sail an average of about 280 yards.

Kondo has carded four victories on the Japan Golf Tour since he began playing on it in 2000. He won the ANA Open and the Japan PGA Championship in 2006, the JCB Classic in 2007 and The Crowns in 2008. Kondo won playoffs to capture The Crowns and the Japan PGA Championship. He has lost three other playoffs.

Kondo has struggled in PGA Tour events. He missed the cut in the five events he has played, including the most recent, the British Open Championship in 2009. During that event, he carded a 10-over par. He averaged 5-over par in his other PGA Tour events.

Kondo played in the European Tour's Ballantine's Championship in 2008, where he shot 7-over par and finished in a tie for 117th.

Throughout his professional career, Kondo has caught fire in a number of rounds. On 12 occasions, he has shot eight birdies in a round, and twice he has shot a 62 during 18-hole rounds.
