Personal Profile
Teshima was born October 16, 1968, in Fukuoka, Japan. He began golfing at the age of 7 when his father built a driving range. Teshima has never had a golf coach, but says his father is his greatest golf influence. He is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He lives in Fukuoka with his wife, Naoko.
Japan Golf Tour Results
Teshima has been a winner six times on the Japan Golf Tour. While he hasn't won on other professional circuits, his finishes in Japan Golf Tour events have been consistent. His first win was in 1999 at the Fancl Okinawa Open. He followed that with the following victories: Japan Open (2001); Aiful Cup (2003); Under Armour KBC Augusta and Bridgestone Open (2006); and the Casio World Open (2007).
European Tour
Teshima qualified for the European Tour in 2007, but finished outside of the top 150 and went back to the Japan Golf Tour. His best finish on the European Tour was a tie for 26th place.
PGA Tour Appearances
Teshima last participated in a PGA Tour event in 2003, when he finished 15-over par at the World Golf Championships, a tournament co-sanctioned by a number of tours, including the Japan Golf Tour and the PGA Tour. He failed to make the cuts in Tour appearances in 2000 (Nissan Open); British Open Championship (2001); and the Nissan Open, British Open Championship, and PGA Championship (2002).
Interests
Teshima lists driving and reading as two of his interests, and Germany is his favorite country. He claims to love Teutonic cars and clothing, and his favorite race car driver is six-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher, who is from Germany.
