Some of the cheapest times of the year to go to Las Vegas are the middle of January through late February, and the middle of September through the middle of October. School is in, so few families and college students come. The absolute cheapest time to go to Las Vegas is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most people use their vacation time during these holidays and very few of them take time off to travel to Las Vegas during the month in between. Las Vegas is like a ghost town--hotels are vying for your business, restaurants offer specials, and you can have your pick of the best golf courses without being turned away.
Cheapest Days
Las Vegas is packed with visitors on most weekends. The cheapest time to go to Las Vegas during each week is during the weekdays. This is considered Sunday through Thursday nights. Friday and Saturday nights are considered the weekends; rates for everything from rooms to golf course fees are higher on the weekends.
Cheapest Times
Every day, Las Vegas hotels attempt to fill their empty rooms. If you go to Las Vegas without reservations, try to get there as early as possible in the day. On a day-to-day basis, Las Vegas hotels have the most available rooms just after check out time. This is between 11 a.m. and noon at most Las Vegas hotels. They may be willing to offer you a discount if you agree to take what they have. If you wait until the afternoon, the rooms will be more expensive or they might sell out.
Avoid Holidays
It is important to avoid going to Las Vegas on any holiday. These are when the crowds are largest, services are busiest, and prices are the highest. It can be difficult to get a tee time. The weekends immediately before or after a holiday are often worse.
Avoid Conventions
Las Vegas hosts conventions all year long. During certain weeks, there are so many conventioneers in town that there is no room for other tourists. Everything is more expensive. These convention storms occur when a number of large conventions are scheduled at the same time. It is a very good idea to check with the Las Vegas Convention Center before planning any trip to Las Vegas. They list all of the conventions and when they will be in Las Vegas.
